Description
The basic science of bio-based materials and chemicals has advanced to the point that dozens of chemicals can now be produced from multiple feedstocks, at costs that are competitive with petroleum – at least in theory – and at scale. The first wave of companies are proving out their processes and scaling up to commercial production capacities. As these companies ramp up output, their bio-based chemical “intermediates” – those chemicals that travel down the value chain to produce coatings, plastics, detergents, and more – will enable a wide variety of new opportunities for downstream producers. Bio-based acids, olefins, and alcohols will become feedstocks, fueling the next wave of bio-based products, such as bio-nylon, bio-based PET, and bio-based polyurethane.
This webinar will:
Outline production capacity growth of bio-based chemical intermediates from 2005 to 2013 and forecasted capacity to 2017
Move down the value chain and highlight opportunities for converting these chemical intermediate feedstocks into products
Assess the key established and top emerging players
